How to Know Early Signs for developing cerebral palsy with spasticity


Signs in newborns to baby’s of 3 months of age

Signs of cerebral palsy about posture and agility : a middle to severe spastic child lies relatively motionless in the crib, abnormal motionless or movement – unrest with possibly stereotypically movements, constant asymmetrical postures, One or both hands constantly closed with an in – turned thumb ( normaly hands are open most of the time from age 2 -4 months ), Delayed appearance of extension of the legs and intermitting extension movements, patterns of total flexion alternated with total extension, sometime even by very small stimuli.

Signs of cerebral palsy about muscle tonus : by very severe forms of spasticity one can see a hypertonic tone in early stage, sometimes children are strikingly floppy or hypotonic this can later turn into a hypertonic tone, from the age of 6 weeks a flaccid hanging head can be seen by ventral suspension, When the child lies in prone position the child doesn’t turn his head from the middleposition to a side or doesn’t lift his head up, headleg and no attempt to correction by pulling into sitting position, doesn’t able to sit with extended legs.

Signs of cerebral palsy about Posture and agility : using one side of body, asymmetric movements and posture sometimes with scoliosis, spastic hip endorotation and adduction of the legs, minimal or absent head balance, shoulder retraction, Isnt able to crawl and standing.

Signs of cerebral palsy about Reflexes : the absence of reflexive catch-up reactions, persisting of the symmetric tonic neck reflex

Signs of cerebral palsy about Diverse : in hemiplegia cerebral palsy, the affected side can be shortened, usually the affected side feels colder.

Signs in children age 9 -12  Children older then 12 months

Walking tiptoed, child walks late, wing position of the arm especially in attempts from the child to run, legs are adducted and endorotated foot is an a clubfoot position.
